Taurine is a conditionally necessary amino acid that is mostly available in free form in most tissues, particularly in the nervous system. It is not used for protein synthesis. It works in tissues by assisting in the transfer of potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium into and out of cells and stabilizing cell membranes. Taurine is used by the body in visual pathways, as well as in the brain and neurological system, where it functions as a neurotransmitter together with glycine and GABA. Taurine also assists the maintenance of appropriate fluid balance.
This product has twice the Taurine (1,000 mg) as in our regular strength product (500 mg).
